Environmental Laboratory

Head of laboratory:

The Environmental Laboratory is used for the purposes of laboratory exercises for students of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Informatics of the Technical University in Košice within the teaching of the subjects Basics of Environmental Studies and Electrical Power Engineering and the Environment. The instrumentation of the laboratory also enables the implementation of operational measurements for practice.

Subjects and outputs of education:

  • Bachelor study: Subject Economics in power engineering (Basic computational knowledge and skills in the field of economics of production, transmission, distribution and consumption of electricity),
  • Bachelor study: Subject Basics of environmental studies (Basic knowledge of environmental factors, with emphasis on the problems of electrical engineering and power engineering)

The following measuring devices are available for measuring selected physical parameters of the working environment:

The noise level measuring device – sound tester TESTO 816 – is used for measuring noise in the field of occupational safety and protection in workplaces, industrial and production halls and also in public places, in the range of 30 ÷ 130 dB, with an accuracy of ± 1.4 dB in frequency range 0 Hz ÷ 8 kHz. It enables accurate spot measurement and long-term noise assessment. The time rating can be set to Slow (1 s, slow) or Fast (125 ms, fast) as required.

The instrument for measuring illuminance (light intensity) – LUTRON LX-1102 luxmeter – has five measuring ranges in a wide range of 40 ÷ 400000 lux, with a high resolution of 0.01 ÷ 100 lux, with an accuracy of ± (3% + 0.5%). The detachable light probe allows you to measure the lighting in the optimal position.

Instruments for measuring the microclimate of the indoor environment – 2 contact thermometers Digitherm 01, thermohygrometer Testo 608-H1 and anemometer Lutron LM-81AM. ThermohygrometerTesto 608-H1 allows the measurement of temperature (in the range -20 ÷ +50 ° C) and relative humidity (in the range 10 ÷ 95%), as well as the calculation and display of dew point. The Lutron LM-81AM anemometer is used to measure the air flow rate in the range of 0.4 ÷ 30 m / s, at an operating temperature of 0 ÷ 50 ° C and a relative humidity of max. 80%.

Electric, magnetic and electromagnetic field measuring instruments – Lutron EMF 823 allows the measurement of magnetic induction of low-frequency electromagnetic fields at measuring ranges up to 20, 200 and 2000 µT for frequencies 30 ÷ 300 Hz, with an accuracy of ± 4% for the range 20 µT, ± 5 % for the 200 µT range and ± 10% for the 2000 µT range. The Chauvin Arnoux C.A 42 device is used to measure magnetic induction in the range of 200 nT ÷ 40 mT, for the frequency range 10 Hz ÷ 30 kHz. The electrosmog analyzer ME3830B enables the measurement of electric and magnetic fields with a frequency range of 16 Hz ÷ 100 kHz, for electric field intensities 1 ÷ 1999 V / m and magnetic inductions 1 ÷ 1999 nT with an accuracy of <± 2% at 100 nT or V / m.

Device for measuring the equivalent dose of radioactive radiation – dosimeter PTF-02 with measuring the equivalent dose up to 100 µSv / h.
