Head of laboratory: doc. Ing. Ľubomír Beňa, PhD.
The Lighting Technology Laboratory is used for laboratory exercises for students of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Informatics of the Technical University in Košice within the teaching of the subjects Lighting Technology and Design of Lighting Systems and also for solving research tasks in the field of lighting and lighting technology.
Subjects and outputs of education:
- Bachelor study: Subject Lighting technology (expertise needed to create the right lighting environment for various work and leisure activities of people, getting acquainted with the measurement procedures for determining lighting quantities and parameters of light sources)
The laboratory offers the possibility of using the following instrumentation:
Spectrum radiometer OL 770, Optronic Laboratories, Inc.Spectrophotometer Avantes, AvaSpec-2048-USB2 – instruments are used to measure the spectral characteristics of light sources, based on which it is possible to evaluate other parameters: color coordinates, trichromatic light components, chromaticity temperature, color rendering index, S / P factor and others. |
Ball integrator (Ulbricht ball) with a diameter of 1 m – used to measure the luminous flux of small light sources |
Network electricity quality analyzer BK ELCOM ENA 330 – is used to measure: voltage, current, frequency, power, work, power factor, real power factor, asymmetry, flicker, harmonics and higher harmonics, capture events such as dips and oscillations, transient overvoltages, interruptions and rapid voltage fluctuations. It contains software for processing measurements and their evaluation according to the standard STN EN 50 160.- in laboratory exercises it is used to evaluate the impact of lighting equipment on the power supply network. |
Digital jasometer LS 110, Konica Minolta – a device for measuring brightness, which is complemented by focusing optics, which defines the spatial (viewing) angle in which the light flux impinges on the photon. The optics of the viewfinder indicate the measured area, the average brightness of which the device evaluates. |
Chromameter CL-200, Konica Minolta – used to measure lighting intensity (similar to luxmeter), chromaticity temperature, color coordinates and trichromatic components. |
Luxmeter PU 550 – used to measure light intensity. It is equipped with a probe with a cosine extension for correcting the directional measurement error. |
Power supply adjustable power supply Elektro-Automatik EA-4000B-4.5 – serves as a power supply for light sources with a voltage range of 0-240V AC, max. current 4.5A |
Pyranometer MS-80S is used to measure global (direct and diffuse) solar radiation on the horizontal plane with a spectral selectivity of 350 – 1500 nm. |
